The AuthorI've been playing the Sims series on and off for the past 15 years. I remember sneaking downstairs at in the early morning to play The Sims 1 for an hour or two before elementary school (since my sister would hardly ever let me play in the evenings).
When The Sims 2 came out we went halfsies on the first one, the Holiday Edition expansion, but I played it more. I was eleven. I played it more and she, since she preferred the first series. I own The Sims 3 but loathe playing it. The engine is too clunky and the open world, while nice, isn't controllable enough for my tastes. (Curse thy micromanagement) Nowadays I own all of the expansions and most of the stuff packs. This is my first story for the Sims. |
The OriginThe story's simple: Due to disease and disarray in the Dukedom of Delle, a group of Sims move away, hoping to start anew.
To move away from the safety of the town's walls is a foolish move, yet one most of the party deems necessary. Eastdelle is unsafe for any who live there. Most have lost at least one loved one to the sickness that is rampant. The Duke himself does not seem to notice, or ignores the pleas from the townsfolk. He may be sick himself, but little is known. He rarely leaves his castle. Going to the king is unheard of. It is this combination of unfortunate events that causes our founding group to wander away, looking for anything that could be better than their old home. The hope is that, wherever they are, they can control their own destiny. They can work together as a community to make sure everyone can eat, grow, and have a healthy life without depending on an absent leader. This is where Rainbow Valley comes into play. Where they settle matters the most to their survival. A marshy pocket of land surrounded by mountains is not the ideal place to settle, yet on the mornings filled with misty rain from the night before the morning heats up, the flashes of rainbows can cheer anyone's day. |
Valley of Rainbows - Challenge Origins
This is a Sims 2 medieval story, with mixtures of the Royal Kingdom Challenge, the Medieval Charter Challenge, and the Warwickshire Challenge. The Royal Kingdom challenge is too structured for my tastes, while the Warwickshire Challenge is too rough on the sims and heavy on the structure. However I will be borrowing elements from both so I feel it is necessary to mention them.
