A grin lit upon Tamora's face as she examined her surroundings. Walls, a roof, doors, and some holes cut out in the walls for windows. The floor was dirt, but what did that matter yet? Her feet danced over the packed dirt as she fluttered around, inspecting every inch. She had been working out in the fields for so long that she had not yet a chance to examine the homes that were being built. And this home was hers!
"Not quite ours," called Edward. He stood in the doorway. She hadn't need to speak her thoughts when she danced like that. Edward knew what her hopes were, and he didn't want her to assume their fortune. "Though I hear this room is free for two bodies. A doorway awaiting a door fell within his gaze. Inside was a room just large enough for a bed and a few of their possessions. Quick as ever, Tamora drew out a handkerchief from her person and slung it over a protruding branch stump on the wall.
"Now it is ours," she said firmly. A step took her inside and Edward followed her.
For now they would be alone. The others were examining the other homes, admiring the fine work done. Not only that, the buildings provided a fine shelter from the blazing sun overhead.
As Tamora dithered on about what would go where, and what sort of curtain they should hang, Edward sighed. Here they were, alone after being shoved around with others for a month and a half, and all she could talk about was curtains? It was time to show why Griffens held their name.
While Tamora giggled at something or another, Edward shuffled forward, ready to make his move. He had just sidled to his wife when he actually heard what she was saying. "-And the bassinet could go here, then put the chest just by it like so, so we can have some privacy from the baby-"
Edward shrunk down and away. Babies? But ... A panicked thought came into his head. "You're with child?" he sputtered. "For how long?" he asked.
Tamora rolled here eyes at him. "I have nothing in my belly except Beatrix's disgusting food. I'm talking about our future, lovey."
Edward flinched away. He often thought about the act, not the consequences that could follow. It made him draw back for now. Tonight would be another matter though. Edward was somewhat forgetful and Tamora was looking forward to her future tasks.
